Freedom 55 Financial ~ Peterborough Charity Golf Classic

In 2010, Freedom 55 Financial selected the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation (GPHSF) to be the recipient of funds raised at its annual Peterborough Charity Golf Classic.  "Freedom 55 Financial have been an excellent partner on this event and we are so thankful that they selected the Foundation as the beneficiary for their annual golf tournament," said Hannah Routly, Executive Director of the GPHSF.

Thanks to the support of volunteers, participants, and sponsors, this tournament raised an outstanding $43,500!  The life changing funds raised from the tournament have been donated to the Comprehensive Vascular Disease Prevention and Management Initiative (CVDPMI), a local program created to find individuals at-risk of Canada's number one cause of preventable death: vascular disease.

Sisters of St. Joseph Recognition Ceremony

The Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation hosted a special ceremonial event to honour the Sisters of St. Joseph and their legacy of delivering and supporting health care in Greater Peterborough on June 25, 2010.  This event commemorated their contributions to the community with a special Linden tree planting ceremony and an announcement of a bursary to be named in their honour.

Linden are among the most graceful of trees, with heart-shaped, coarsely toothed leaves; fragrant cream-coloured flowers; and small globular fruit hanging from a narrow leafy bract.  The flowers of the Linden trees are regarded to have healing qualities and these have been known since ancient times.

25th Anniversary Open House & Health Fair

The volunteers and staff at the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation (GPHSF) want to sincerely thank everyone that participated in our 25th Anniversary Open House & Health Fair Event.  We were overwhelmed with the success of this event and we were delighted to celebrate our milestone annivesary with so many of our donors, volunteers, community leaders, primary health care professionals and Greater Peterborough community members.

"Our anniversary is a time to look back at our past successes and a time to look ahead where we will continue to fulfill our mission to improve primary health care services in our community.  Over the last 25 years, the Foundation has proven to be both adaptable and dedicated to our community's primary health care needs," says Hannah Routly, Executive Director, GPHSF.

Congratulations to the two winners of the "Booth 'Lotto' Game": Cheri and Terry!
